Ecocentro Danaus
Easy walk on well groomed trails where your Naturalist Guide will explain many species of native plants and animals. If it's your lucky day, you'll get to see one or two charming sloths. Danaus is the oldest private reserve in La Fortuna and has donated Environmental Education classes for local schools since the 1990's. In addition, there is a visit to the Maleku Cultural House, where you´ll hear a brief review of this indigenous people's culture and see their traditional crafts.
Short Distance
It's a half mile (800 meters) walk with stops every few steps where you will learn about the environment and interaction between species of flora and fauna.
Family Friendly
Suitable for all ages. Children will be entertained, as well as adults and seniors, watching and learning about the forest that surrounds you and all the animals living in it.
Abundant Wildlife
It is a sanctuary for wildlife where you can see: sloths, iguanas, birds, basilisks, frogs, a butterfly farm and a wetland where aquatic birds nest.
Easy Walking
It is a flat terrain with well maintained trails, accessible for adults or families with children. There are no uphills or big steps. Duration: 1.5 hrs

Ecocentro Danaus offers Day and Night Guided tours. We highly recommend the guided walk because you´ll learn about the animals, the rainforest and the interaction among them. - Guided visits are held everyday upon request through a written reservation. - Children under 5 yrs old are Free - Transportation is not included on price - Minimum is 4 persons - Children ages are 5 to 10 yrs old
